Requirements

  • Resend account
  • Verified sending domain for sending mail
  • MCP client supporting Streamable HTTP and OAuth for the hosted endpoint

Setup steps

  1. For Codex, add the official endpoint `https://mcp.resend.com/mcp` as a remote HTTP MCP server, following Resend’s documented Codex command `codex mcp add resend --url https://mcp.resend.com/mcp`.
  2. On first connection, sign in to Resend in the browser and approve the requested permissions. OAuth is preferred; do not put an API key into a shared catalog config.
  3. Alternatively, for local stdio use `npx -y resend-mcp` with `RESEND_API_KEY` configured in the client’s secure local environment.
  4. Reconnect and confirm tools are listed. Start with read-only email status or domain checks. Confirm recipient, content, and intent before sending email, sending a broadcast, changing contacts, or managing keys.
