HTTP JSON-RPC 2.0 at /rpc; NameSilo calls it MCP, but ordinary MCP client transport/configuration guidance is not documented on the page.

Authentication

MCP endpoint requires X-API-KEY header with a NameSilo account API key. API page says sandbox test credentials are obtained by contacting support. The separate legacy Domain API has a different key-in-query flow; do not conflate that with the MCP endpoint.

Requirements

• NameSilo account and API key for account operations
• For sandbox testing, request sandbox credentials from NameSilo support
• Use sandbox environment parameter for test operations; production calls may alter domains and incur charges

Setup steps

1. Create/sign in to a NameSilo account and obtain an API key from the account API manager.
2. For sandbox, contact NameSilo support to request sandbox account/API credentials.
3. Send JSON-RPC 2.0 POST requests to https://mcp.namesilo.com/rpc with X-API-KEY header. The official example calls namesilo.checkAvailability with a domain parameter.
4. For sandbox calls include environment: "sandbox" in params as stated on the MCP page.
5. Test with a non-mutating domain availability lookup. Confirm exact method parameters in the linked NameSilo API reference before calling account-changing methods.

The publisher’s current machine-readable `/.well-known/mcp.json` schema enumerates exactly 51 namespaced MCP methods, matching the stored inventory. The marketing page’s “80+” refers to the broader NameSilo API method surface and is not treated as the MCP tool count.
