About Mercury MCP

Mercury's hosted financial MCP lets authorized AI clients read account, transaction, card, recipient, statement and business data, and perform a limited set of scoped actions such as creating payment requests or editing transaction categories.

What you can use it for

  • Review balances, statements, transactions, accounts and cards
  • Inspect recipients, users, webhooks, invoices, attachments and SAFE requests
  • Prepare payments or internal transfer requests for later Mercury approval
  • Create/edit custom categories and update transaction notes/categories
Connection and setup
Hosting
remote
Transport
Not documented
Endpoint
https://mcp.mercury.com/mcp
Authentication
OAuth 2.0. Users sign in at Mercury and explicitly approve requested scopes. Read scope grants read tools; write tools require individual scopes listed in the official tool reference. OAuth registration for custom clients uses PKCE S256.

Requirements

  • Mercury account; business-only tools depend on account eligibility
  • MCP is currently in beta
  • Mercury sign-in and consent for requested scopes
  • Payment and transfer requests require review/approval in Mercury; AI cannot approve them
  • Existing read-only connections must reauthorize to grant new write scopes

Setup steps

  1. Add https://mcp.mercury.com/mcp as a remote Streamable HTTP server in a supported client.
  2. Complete Mercury's browser sign-in and review the requested account and scopes before approving.
  3. Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http -s user mercury https://mcp.mercury.com/mcp`, then `claude mcp login mercury`; omit `-s user` for project-only config.
  4. Codex CLI: `codex mcp add mercury --url https://mcp.mercury.com/mcp`; if OAuth does not start automatically, run `codex mcp login mercury`.
  5. Other clients: set the remote HTTP URL and let the client perform OAuth; official docs list official integrations including ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Perplexity, Gemini Enterprise, Grok, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Notion and Replit.
  6. Verify through a harmless read-only balance/account query. For payment/transfer actions, request creation is not approval; review and approve separately inside Mercury.
Tools 37+

The current official reference documents the stored tool surface. Available tools vary by account eligibility and granted OAuth scopes; write actions for payments/transfers create requests that still require approval, while category and transaction-metadata edits apply immediately.
