About Wix MCP

Wix's developer MCP connects an AI agent to Wix documentation and platform APIs for generating Wix code and managing Wix sites, apps and projects. This is separate from Wix Site MCP, which belongs to an individual public Wix site.

Requirements

  • Node.js 19.9.0 or higher
  • A Wix account for interactive authorization; permissions depend on the account and selected site
  • Compatible MCP client; remote MCP support or Node/npx for the local proxy

Setup steps

  1. Add https://mcp.wix.com/mcp as an HTTP MCP server in a client with remote MCP support. For Claude Code, Wix documents claude mcp add --transport http wix-mcp-remote https://mcp.wix.com/mcp.
  2. If the client cannot connect to remote MCP, use the vendor documented local proxy: npx -y @wix/mcp-remote@latest https://mcp.wix.com/mcp.
  3. Start the server and complete Wix account sign-in/consent when prompted. For non-interactive use, configure an API key and Wix account ID locally; never place secrets in a prompt or committed file.
  4. Reconnect after changing Wix accounts or if the OAuth state becomes stale. Confirm connection with a read-only documentation lookup before any site mutation.
Tools 18+

The 18 stored names describe documented developer-MCP actions. Wix documents broad groups rather than a fixed complete tools/list; access depends on account, chosen site, permissions and server updates. This is separate from Wix Site MCP and WebMCP.

Limitations and notes
  • MCP can call real site and account APIs, including write actions such as applying discounts, sending email, creating/publishing sites or installing apps. Review and confirm before write/destructive actions.
  • Wix MCP (developer-facing), Wix Site MCP (per-site visitor server) and Wix WebMCP (browser layer) are different implementations.
  • The page has interactive configuration tabs; the static extraction did not expose the full client-specific npx/config JSON. The endpoint and official generic npx proxy are documented; client-specific details should be rechecked from the linked client docs.

  • MCP.Directory uses the broad Wix name. This record is specifically Wix's developer-facing platform MCP, not the per-site Wix Site MCP or the in-browser Wix WebMCP.
