About Tencent CloudBase AI Toolkit MCP

Tencent CloudBase's MCP toolkit exposes documented development and administration tools for CloudBase environments, databases, functions, hosting, deployment, and related WeChat mini-program workflows.

What you can use it for

  • Inspect and manage CloudBase environments
  • Develop and deploy CloudBase applications and WeChat mini-programs
  • Use documented database, cloud function, storage, hosting, and CloudRun workflows
Connection and setup
Hosting
Local npx process or Tencent Cloud hosted remote service; self-hosted Cloud Mode is also documented
Transport
stdio for local mode; Streamable HTTP for hosted or Cloud Mode
Endpoint
https://tcb-api.cloud.tencent.com/mcp/v1?env_id=<CLOUDBASE_ENV_ID>
Authentication
Local mode supports the built-in auth tool's browser/device login or an environment-scoped CloudBase API key. Hosted mode requires Tencent Cloud SecretId, SecretKey, and the CloudBase environment ID. Never commit these credentials.

Requirements

  • Node.js 18.15 or later and npx for local mode.
  • A CloudBase environment for service operations; a free environment can be created from the CloudBase console.
  • Hosted mode requires Tencent Cloud API credentials and a CloudBase environment ID.

Setup steps

  1. For local mode, configure command `npx` with args [`@cloudbase/cloudbase-mcp@latest`] using stdio. The official Codex setup guide provides its client-specific instructions.
  2. After the server starts, use its `auth` tool with action `start_auth` to complete the browser/device login, then bind the intended CloudBase environment with action `set_env` and its environment ID. Alternatively, use an environment-scoped API key with `login_by_api_key`.
  3. For Tencent-hosted mode, connect over Streamable HTTP at `https://tcb-api.cloud.tencent.com/mcp/v1?env_id=<CLOUDBASE_ENV_ID>` and set `X-TencentCloud-SecretId` and `X-TencentCloud-SecretKey` headers. For a Singapore environment on the China site, add `&site=domestic`; choose the site according to the account/environment.
  4. Restart/reload the client and inspect tools/list. The official English MCP tool guide documents 43 tools; verify the current list because it changes with toolkit versions and selected mode.
  5. For a read-only first check, use the `auth` tool with action `status` or query the bound environment. Do not invoke deployment, database-write, or account-management tools without user confirmation.

The official English tool reference lists 43 tools, while the official directory listing materials list 34; documentation versions and connection modes can expose different tools. The names below are representative, not a complete tools/list observation.

This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • CloudBase management tools can create or modify cloud resources; review each action and obtain user confirmation before write or deployment operations.
  • Some tools require local filesystem access and are disabled in remote Cloud Mode.
  • The official tool inventory conflicts: the main English guide documents 43 tools, while the separate listing-materials page states 34. This entry marks capabilities dynamic and does not claim an exact live tools/list count.
  • No MCP initialization, tools/list, or representative tool call was performed for this catalog entry.
Source discrepancies
  • The official English MCP tool reference documents 43 tools; the official listing-materials page states 34. The record preserves the conflict and treats the current tool surface as dynamic.
