About Telnyx MCP

Official Telnyx MCP integrations for telephony, messaging, AI assistants and related API operations; hosted remote implementation is available.

What you can use it for

  • Manage phone numbers and messaging
  • Make calls and create AI assistants
  • Manage webhooks and inspect received webhook events
  • Object/storage/embedding workflows when enabled
Connection and setup
Hosting
local and remote
Transport
stdio and Streamable HTTP
Endpoint
Local process; no hosted endpoint documented
Authentication
TELNYX_API_KEY; optional SDK/client configuration. Do not treat the legacy hosted /v2/mcp URL as the default for the new package.

Requirements

  • Telnyx account/API key
  • uvx/uv for local Python installation
  • Optional ngrok auth token if webhooks are enabled

Setup steps

  1. For local setup use the documented uvx package command from the official repository and set TELNYX_API_KEY.
  2. For the hosted server use https://api.telnyx.com/v2/mcp with Telnyx official client/plugin setup.
  3. Restrict optional tool groups with documented --tools/--exclude-tools options.
Tools 1

The archived Python repository is deprecated. The current maintained TypeScript package registers one Code Mode tool, execute; it runs code against the Telnyx SDK. Tool/API breadth is through SDK methods, not one MCP tool per endpoint. Current package source confirms this registered name and input schema.

  • execute

Run JavaScript/TypeScript code against an initialized Telnyx SDK client to access Telnyx API methods; API calls execute under the supplied Telnyx credentials and may create, modify, send or delete resources. Input includes code and optional intent.

    Parameters: code, intent
    01
Limitations and notes
  • Some tools can send messages or initiate calls.
  • Webhook optional mode may require ngrok and may fail startup if ngrok auth/network is invalid.
Original sources
  • official repository

Documents API-key env, tool filtering, local install, webhook configuration and remote server availability.

  • official AI integrations repository

Identifies hosted Telnyx MCP endpoint https://api.telnyx.com/v2/mcp and plugin integrations.

  • official current maintainer source

Current server.ts registers only codeTool by default; code-tool.ts names its sole tool execute and defines code plus optional intent. Archived Python server README directs users to this maintained package.
