About Svelte MCP

Svelte's official MCP server provides current Svelte and SvelteKit documentation, static analysis through Svelte Autofixer, and related prompts/resources to help agents produce correct Svelte code.

What you can use it for

  • Retrieve up-to-date Svelte/SvelteKit documentation sections
  • Run static analysis suggestions against Svelte code
  • Generate a shareable Svelte Playground link for generated code
Connection and setup
Hosting
Both: local npm stdio package and hosted remote MCP endpoint
Transport
stdio (local); Streamable HTTP (remote)
Endpoint
https://mcp.svelte.dev/mcp
Authentication
No authentication documented for the public hosted endpoint or local package.

Requirements

  • MCP-capable client
  • Node.js/npm for local setup
  • Network access for hosted remote endpoint

Setup steps

  1. Choose local (`npx -y @sveltejs/mcp`) or hosted (`https://mcp.svelte.dev/mcp`) mode.
  2. For Claude Code local setup, use `claude mcp add -t stdio -s user svelte -- npx -y @sveltejs/mcp`; choose `user`, `project`, or `local` scope. For remote, use `claude mcp add -t http -s user svelte https://mcp.svelte.dev/mcp`.
  3. For Codex CLI, the local config uses command `npx`, args `-y`, `@sveltejs/mcp`; remote setup sets `url = "https://mcp.svelte.dev/mcp"` in `~/.codex/config.toml` and enables `experimental_use_rmcp_client = true` as documented.
  4. Reload the client. Verify with `list-sections` or ask for current documentation for the project's Svelte version.
Tools 4

The current official Svelte tools reference enumerates four tools: list-sections, get-documentation, svelte-autofixer and playground-link.

  • list-sections

List available Svelte and SvelteKit documentation sections.

    01
  • get-documentation

Fetch current documentation for requested sections.

    02
  • svelte-autofixer

Use static analysis to suggest fixes for Svelte code.

    03
  • playground-link

Generate an ephemeral Svelte Playground link for code.

    04
Limitations and notes
  • Remote server transmits submitted code to the hosted service; the Svelte team states it does not log, store, or inspect code sent to the remote server.
  • Tool names and docs evolve; consult current official reference.
