About Shortcut MCP

Shortcut hosted MCP exposes workspace project-management entities, including Stories and Docs with create/update, plus Epic/Iteration creation and read-only workspace records.

What you can use it for

  • Search and read supported Shortcut workspace entities.
  • Create and update supported entities subject to OAuth scopes and workspace permissions.

Requirements

  • Shortcut account and workspace access
  • MCP client supporting remote HTTP/Streamable HTTP and OAuth

Setup steps

  1. Add https://mcp.shortcut.com/mcp as a remote MCP server using the chosen client's documented HTTP setup.
  2. Restart or refresh the client if required.
  3. Complete the Shortcut OAuth prompt in the browser and review requested permissions.
  4. Verify using a read-only request to list or retrieve a workspace entity.

Limitations and notes
  • Workspace roles can restrict operations even when an OAuth scope is granted.
  • Stories and Docs support full create/retrieve/update; other entity support is narrower.

    The MCP.Directory page embeds the @shortcut/mcp README, which explicitly enumerates 54 MCP tool identifiers and descriptions. The documented hosted endpoint was also checked directly; it returned HTTP 401 without OAuth, so live tools/list could not be read.
