Limitations and notes
  • Current Shopify AI Toolkit recommends its bundled plugin; the standalone Dev MCP runs locally and exposes a changing developer toolkit surface. No exact MCP tool roster is listed in the reviewed setup docs.
Source discrepancies
  • The discovery label Shopify Dev is specifically resolved to @shopify/dev-mcp. It is distinct from Shopify Storefront MCP, whose legacy catalog/cart endpoint was removed, and from Customer Accounts MCP.
Original sources
  • official integration documentation

Explains connecting to Shopify Dev MCP and enabling Polaris tooling without enumerating its tool names.

  • official primary

Official migration page establishes that the old Storefront MCP endpoint has been removed and directs commerce integrations to UCP; prevents conflating it with dev MCP.

  • official product brand asset

Shopify Dev documentation site image downloaded and visually checked on light and dark backgrounds; approved as product logo tier A.

  • official publisher documentation

Official docs confirm local setup, no auth for developer content, and current toolkit capabilities; no exact MCP tool identifiers published.
