Requirements

  • ServiceNow instance with the MCP Server feature available.
  • sn_mcp_server.admin or admin role to create and activate a server.

Setup steps

  1. In the instance, open All → MCP Server Console (or Admin → MCP Server Console), then Configuration → Servers.
  2. Create a server, choose a label, and add only the intended tools; activate it.
  3. Copy the generated Server URL, which follows https://<instance>.service-now.com/sncapps/mcp-server/mcp/<server-name>.
  4. Configure the MCP client using the instance connection procedure and complete the configured authentication flow.
  5. Inspect tools/list; start with read-only operations.
