PlanetScale-hosted MCP server for organization, database, branch, schema, Insights, documentation, and permission-enabled query workflows. Capabilities are scoped by OAuth permissions configured for the user and selected branches.

Authentication
OAuth browser authorization with configurable organization/database/branch permissions. Read-only and full-access grants are distinct; use least privilege.

Requirements

  • PlanetScale account and access to an organization
  • MCP client with remote Streamable HTTP and OAuth support

Setup steps

  1. In PlanetScale, open the official MCP setup page and use its copy-configuration control to add the hosted endpoint `https://mcp.pscale.dev/mcp/planetscale` to your MCP client.
  2. Choose the least-privilege organization, database, branch, and read-only or full-access permissions in the browser authorization flow.
  3. Approve OAuth in the browser and return to the MCP client.
  4. Reconnect and confirm the available tools. Start with organization/database/schema or Insights reads; do not enable query writes to production without explicit review.

PlanetScale publishes a moving tool list; official docs describe organization/database/schema/Insights tools and additional permission-gated query and billing tools. Counts are partial and not verified by live tools/list.
