About Phaser Editor MCP Server v5

Local MCP server bundled with Phaser Editor v5 that connects an AI client to a running editor instance for inspecting and editing game scenes, assets, animations, and tilemaps.

What you can use it for

  • Inspect project scenes, assets, textures, tilemaps and animations.
  • Create/update scene objects and editable tilemap data through the editor.
  • Generate or modify game scenes while retaining editor-specific metadata.
Connection and setup
Hosting
Local, bundled with Phaser Editor desktop application
Transport
stdio
Endpoint
Local process; no hosted endpoint documented
Authentication
No separate MCP authentication is described; connection is to the running local Phaser Editor v5 instance.

Requirements

  • Phaser Editor v5 installed and running with the target project open.
  • A compatible AI client.
  • Use the editor's AI ? MCP Server Configuration dialog to obtain the exact local server script path; Node.js is bundled/used by the editor server.

Setup steps

  1. Open Phaser Editor v5 with the target project.
  2. Go to main menu ? AI ? MCP Server Configuration and copy the displayed command/path for the desired client.
  3. Configure a local stdio process using `node` and the exact path shown by the editor; preserve existing client entries.
  4. Restart or reload the client if required, and confirm it can list scenes or query the active scene.
  5. Review scene edits before saving. Destructive scene tools can delete objects or clear scenes.

Limitations and notes
  • The server is explicitly under development and many editor features are not implemented.
  • It requires a running Phaser Editor v5 desktop process; it is not a standalone Phaser framework API server.
  • Changes are made through editor-specific scene and asset formats, not direct source-code editing.
  • Several tools clear scenes or delete objects/tilesets; review destructive changes carefully.
Original sources
  • official tool reference

Phaser Editor v5 official docs enumerate 39 tools across editor, assets, scenes, and editable tilemaps, matching the stored list. Server operates through a running desktop editor instance and is under active development.
