About Norman MCP

Norman's hosted MCP connects AI clients to its European bookkeeping, invoicing, receipt, ledger, reporting, tax and company-formation workflows, with OAuth login to a Norman account.

What you can use it for

  • Review company balances, revenue, transactions and tax status
  • Create and manage invoices, quotes, recurring invoices, clients and product catalogs
  • Categorize transactions, match receipts, inspect ledgers and prepare reconciliations
  • Generate and review German VAT/tax previews and deadlines
  • Prepare German GmbH/UG formation documents and notary handoff

Endpoint

Authentication
Remote server uses Norman OAuth; the user signs into their Norman account in the browser. Local stdio setup documented for OpenClaw uses NORMAN_EMAIL and NORMAN_PASSWORD environment variables; avoid sharing or embedding account passwords in chat.

Requirements

  • Norman account
  • MCP client compatible with remote HTTP/OAuth for hosted use
  • For local stdio: Python/pip and Norman credentials configured as environment variables

Setup steps

  1. Create or sign in to a Norman account.
  2. For a generic remote client, add https://mcp.norman.finance/mcp as a remote MCP server and complete the browser-based Norman OAuth flow.
  3. For Claude Code, install the official plugin using /plugin marketplace add norman-finance/norman-mcp-server followed by /plugin install norman-finance@norman-finance.
  4. For Gemini CLI, install the extension from the official repository and authenticate with /mcp auth norman-finance.
  5. Only for documented OpenClaw local stdio setup, install norman-mcp-server and configure NORMAN_EMAIL and NORMAN_PASSWORD securely in the process environment.
  6. Verify connection with a harmless read-only request such as asking for the company overview.

This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • Capabilities and available tools depend on Norman account data, permissions, and supported client features.
  • Current documented market-specific accounting coverage includes Germany (SKR03/SKR04, DATEV, ELSTER, ZUGFeRD and GmbH/UG workflows); other markets are described as being added over time.
  • Some invoice templates require an active subscription.
  • Tax submission is a separate explicit action after a preview; legal/company formation documents are drafts for notary preparation, not legal advice.
  • Local stdio credentials documented for OpenClaw include email/password; hosted OAuth keeps the Norman password out of MCP configuration.
