About MasterGo Magic MCP

A legacy remote MCP adapter for retrieving design-file DSL and design-to-code (D2C) data from MasterGo.

Authentication
Requires a personal MasterGo access token (MG_MCP_TOKEN) from account Settings > Security Settings > Personal Access Token. Keep the token in local client configuration and never paste it into chat.

Requirements

  • Node.js 18+ and npm 8+
  • MasterGo account with Team plan or higher
  • Design file must be in a team the account can access
  • MCP-compatible client

Setup steps

  1. Sign in to MasterGo, open personal settings > Security Settings, generate a personal access token.
  2. Configure command npx with args [-y, @mastergo/magic-mcp, --token=<MG_MCP_TOKEN>, --url=https://mastergo.com]. Store the token only in local client secret configuration.
  3. Reload the MCP client. Select the desired layer in MasterGo before requesting its DSL.
  4. For design-to-code, use the MasterGo plugin to send content to Magic MCP, then pass the returned contentId to mcp_getD2c.
  5. If access fails, verify token validity, team plan and file membership; for large pages, select a smaller region.

MasterGo’s official help identifies Magic MCP as the older remote endpoint and documents the two methods. It requires a Team plan and personal access token; newer local Vibe MCP is a separate implementation.

Limitations and notes
  • This is the legacy remote implementation, distinct from the current Vibe MCP.
  • Requires Team plan or higher and file access within a permitted team.
  • Large selections may time out; request a smaller component/region.
  • Official help page documents 429 rate-limit errors and recommends reducing request frequency.
Source discrepancies
  • MasterGo now recommends Vibe MCP for canvas operations. Magic MCP remains a separate documented remote DSL/D2C adapter.
