Authentication
The MCP registry manifest declares only a public remote endpoint and no credential fields. The service returned an initialize response without authentication. No account or API key was required during metadata discovery.

Setup steps

  1. For Gemini CLI, the official repository documents `gemini extensions install https://github.com/googleworkspace/developer-tools`; the extension manifest points to https://workspace-developer.goog/mcp.
  2. For other clients that support remote HTTP MCP servers, add a server named workspace-developer at https://workspace-developer.goog/mcp.
  3. No local runtime or API key is documented for the remote endpoint.
  4. Follow the server instruction: search official Google Workspace documentation first, then fetch the relevant page.

The Google Workspace Developers repository and live initialize instructions identify search_workspace_docs and fetch_workspace_docs. A full tools/list was not independently established, so this remains a two-name partial documented snapshot rather than a claimed complete inventory.

This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • The repository's old @googleworkspace/developer-mcp local proxy is archived and explicitly says it is not an official Google product; it is not treated as this remote service.
  • The live tool-list request could not be completed due to the remote service rejecting the request parameters; exact tool schemas and total tool count remain unknown.
Source discrepancies
  • The separate archived @googleworkspace/developer-mcp README says that package is not an official Google product and only proxies to a remote service. It is not conflated with the current remote Workspace Developer Tools server in the googleworkspace/developer-tools repository.
