About ClickHouse Cloud Remote MCP

A managed remote MCP server for ClickHouse Cloud that lets an authorized client inspect databases and schemas, run read-only SELECT queries, and inspect service, backup, ClickPipes and billing information.

Requirements

  • ClickHouse Cloud service with Remote MCP enabled by a service administrator
  • MCP client that supports the hosted connection; ChatGPT Work availability also requires workspace plugins enabled
  • OAuth login with a user authorized for the relevant organization/service

Setup steps

  1. In the ClickHouse Cloud console, open the service, choose Connect ? MCP and enable Remote MCP (service administrator required).
  2. Add https://mcp.clickhouse.cloud/mcp to the MCP client or install the ClickHouse plugin in ChatGPT Work.
  3. Complete OAuth sign-in with the ClickHouse Cloud user who should authorize access.
  4. Verify using read-only database/table inspection or a SELECT query. The hosted server's tools are read-only.

Limitations and notes
  • The server is disabled by default and must be enabled by a ClickHouse Cloud service administrator.
  • Access is limited to organizations and services visible to the authenticated user.
  • All 13 documented tools are read-only; the MCP cannot modify data or service configuration.
  • Availability of the ChatGPT Work plugin depends on plan and workspace settings.
  • This is separate from the open-source local ClickHouse MCP server and from ClickHouse's docs MCP.
