About Clerk MCP

Clerk's beta hosted MCP server provides current Clerk SDK snippets and implementation patterns for authentication, organizations, and framework-specific development.

What you can use it for

  • Retrieve current Clerk SDK snippets
  • Get implementation patterns for authentication, organizations, and framework-specific flows
  • Find documented setup bundles for B2B SaaS, waitlists, auth basics, and custom flows
Connection and setup
Hosting
Remote, hosted by Clerk
Transport
Streamable HTTP
Endpoint
https://mcp.clerk.com/mcp
Authentication
OAuth sign-in is required for all tools. The user selects a Clerk workspace; effective access follows workspace role and granted OAuth scopes. The server redacts secret configuration values and does not return instance secret keys.

Requirements

  • MCP client supporting Streamable HTTP
  • Clerk CLI is optional for automatic multi-client setup

Setup steps

  1. Connect to https://mcp.clerk.com/mcp and complete Clerk OAuth sign-in, then select the intended workspace and approve scopes.
  2. For supported clients, `clerk mcp install` registers the server; other clients can add the remote endpoint directly.
  3. Review write/production-creation tools and confirm intended scopes before use.
Tools 21

Exact 21-tool hosted inventory from current docs. Account actions are OAuth/workspace-scope governed; creating production instances is irreversible and requires confirm=true.
