About agent-device MCP

Callstack agent-device provides local structured app and device automation over a CLI-backed stdio MCP server.

What you can use it for

  • Inspect, control and verify mobile, TV, web, macOS and Linux applications.
  • Capture accessibility snapshots, interact through selectors and save evidence.
Connection and setup
Hosting
local
Transport
stdio
Endpoint
Local process; no hosted endpoint documented
Authentication
Uses configured local device/app access; the MCP server itself has no remote endpoint.

Requirements

  • Install agent-device CLI and its supported target dependencies
  • Run agent-device mcp as stdio server

Setup steps

  1. Install the official CLI with `npm install -g agent-device@latest`, then verify it with `agent-device --version`.
  2. Configure the MCP client to launch the installed binary with command `agent-device` and args [`mcp`].
  3. Reconnect the MCP client and inspect tools/list. The server documentation says tools are structured wrappers over installed CLI commands and the tool inventory may depend on the installed CLI version and platform.
  4. Install only the platform dependencies needed for the intended target, grant required device permissions, and follow the product's target-specific setup guide.

This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • MCP is a local process and depends on the installed agent-device CLI plus platform-specific device tools and permissions.
  • The publisher recommends a user-selected or project-pinned package for unattended use rather than silently installing a mutable latest version.
  • No MCP initialize, tools/list, or representative tool call was performed for this catalog entry.
