About Better Stack MCP

Better Stack hosted MCP connects assistants to monitoring, incidents, on-call, status pages, logs, traces, metrics, errors and team workflows.

What you can use it for

  • Query telemetry/logs and metrics, manage monitors and incidents, on-call and status pages.
  • Manage dashboards, charts, catalog data, webhooks and team integrations.
Connection and setup
Hosting
hosted
Transport
Streamable HTTP
Endpoint
https://mcp.betterstack.com
Authentication
OAuth recommended, or Bearer API token.

Requirements

  • Better Stack account and permissions for the intended monitoring resources.
  • MCP client supporting remote HTTP MCP.

Setup steps

  1. Add https://mcp.betterstack.com as a remote HTTP MCP server.
  2. Complete OAuth, or provide an API token only through the client’s secure secret mechanism.
  3. Use documented tool allow/deny controls if narrowing access, then inspect tools/list.
  4. Start with read-only monitoring queries; confirm before incident, on-call, status-page, or configuration changes.
Tools 5+

Five exact IDs appear in the official allow/block header examples. The docs list many additional tools by display label, but these are the only identifiers published in those examples.

This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • Write operations require full OAuth access or a read/write API token; read-only scopes are available by omitting write tools.

  • official documentation

Official docs specify remote HTTP endpoint, OAuth or Bearer API token, tool allow/block headers, and exact identifiers in examples including monitors, monitor, incidents, remove_dashboard and remove_chart. The full tools surface is broad and may be permission/configuration scoped.
