About Anyquery MCP

Anyquery is an open-source SQLite-based SQL engine for querying files, databases, and apps through plugins, with local MCP modes for LLM clients.

What you can use it for

  • Expose installed Anyquery data-source plugins to MCP clients

Requirements

  • Install the Anyquery CLI for the current operating system using an official package-manager or release instruction.
  • Install/configure the plugins and data-source credentials needed for the user's chosen integrations.

Setup steps

  1. Install Anyquery using the operating-system instructions at https://anyquery.dev/docs/installation/ (Windows options include Scoop, Winget, and Chocolatey; macOS/Linux have package-manager and installer options).
  2. Install and configure the required plugins from the official plugin registry; each plugin may have distinct credentials and prerequisites.
  3. Add a local stdio MCP server with command `anyquery` and args `mcp`, `--stdio`.
  4. Restart the MCP client and inspect tools/list. Available data and tool behavior depend on installed/configured plugins.
Tools 3

Three fixed tool identifiers confirmed in the publisher’s MCP server implementation. Tool IDs are stable in current source; table names and available operations depend on the user’s installed Anyquery plugins and database configuration.

  • listTables

Lists the SQL tables available through the local Anyquery configuration.

    01
  • describeTable

Returns a table schema, supported operations, and SQL examples.

    02
  • executeQuery

Executes a SQL query against the Anyquery database and returns rows or affected-row counts.

Limitations and notes
  • Integration coverage depends on installed plugins; the project's '60+' figure describes supported plugins/integrations, not the MCP tool count.
  • Some plugins require their own provider accounts or credentials.
  • Documentation was reviewed; MCP initialization, tools/list, and tool calls were not tested.
