Requirements

• A Lightning wallet that supports Nostr Wallet Connect and an NWC connection string
• For local package setup, Node.js 20+ and npx; source build also requires Yarn
• The remotely hosted Claude connector documentation states at least Claude Pro is required for remote MCP connections

1. Create an NWC connection in a supported Lightning wallet and review its allowed permissions/limits.
2. For local stdio setup, configure command `npx`, args [`-y`, `@getalby/mcp`], and `NWC_CONNECTION_STRING` using the client's secure local secret mechanism.
3. For hosted HTTP setup, add https://mcp.getalby.com/mcp and use Bearer authentication with the NWC connection secret; prefer the header method over putting secrets in URLs.
4. Complete wallet/client authorization as applicable and verify first with a harmless wallet-information or balance read.
5. Do not send a payment unless the destination and amount have been explicitly reviewed and approved by the user.
