Requirements

  • MCP client supporting remote Streamable HTTP and OAuth for hosted route
  • WebScraping.AI account for hosted access
  • Local option requires Node.js/npm and API key
  • Cursor local config requires Cursor 0.45.6+ per repository README

Setup steps

  1. Recommended hosted path: add https://mcp.webscraping.ai/mcp as a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server and sign in to WebScraping.AI in the browser; official docs say no API key or local install is needed.
  2. Local stdio path: configure command npx, args [-y, webscraping-ai-mcp], and env WEBSCRAPING_AI_API_KEY=<key>. Optionally set concurrency, timeout, JS rendering, proxy and content-sandboxing environment variables.
  3. For Cursor local setup, use project .cursor/mcp.json for project scope or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for user scope; official repo docs require Cursor 0.45.6+.
  4. Reload the client and verify with a low-cost read-only page extraction or account call. Check plan credits before using priced SERP/data tools.
Tools 7

Seven tools are documented for the current hosted OAuth MCP. A separate legacy self-hosted package exposes ten tools; its additional SERP and data operations are not counted in this hosted server record. Hosted calls consume WebScraping.AI credits.

Limitations and notes
  • Tool calls use WebScraping.AI credits. Official hosted integration page lists seven tools; a separate older self-hosted/API page refers to a legacy 10-tool set. This record follows the current hosted roster.
Source discrepancies
  • Current vendor docs recommend the OAuth-hosted server while the repository documents a prior local stdio version; record keeps both paths distinct and labels the local route as the previous/open-source implementation.
