About Mem0 MCP

Connects AI clients to a hosted Mem0 account for saving, searching, retrieving, updating, and managing user or agent memories.

What you can use it for

  • Save information to a Mem0 account
  • Search and retrieve stored memories
  • List memory entities and operation events
  • Update or delete stored memories when explicitly requested
Connection and setup
Hosting
Remote hosted
Transport
HTTP (remote MCP)
Endpoint
https://mcp.mem0.ai/mcp
Authentication
Interactive browser authorization is the default for clients that support it. An API key can be sent as a bearer token for headless clients; the API key is obtained from the Mem0 dashboard.

Requirements

  • Mem0 Platform account
  • MCP-compatible client
  • Node.js 18+ only when using the documented npx mcp-add helper
  • API key only for bearer-token/headless authentication

Setup steps

  1. Add https://mcp.mem0.ai/mcp as the remote HTTP MCP endpoint using a client-specific method documented by Mem0.
  2. For supported clients, the official guide shows npx mcp-add --name mem0-mcp --type http --url https://mcp.mem0.ai/mcp --clients <supported-client-list>; Claude Desktop must be added from Settings instead.
  3. On first tool use, complete browser authorization; in headless environments configure the API key as a bearer token without pasting it into chat or committed files.
  4. Restart or reload the client, then verify the tools appear; use a harmless memory read or write only with user-approved test content.

The current official Mem0 MCP guide documents these 11 registered tools. Update and delete operations can mutate or remove stored memories.

Save text or conversation history for a user or agent.

    01
  • search_memories

    Semantically search memories with filters.

    02
  • get_memories

List memories with structured filters and pagination.

    03
  • get_memory

    Retrieve one memory by memory_id.

    04
  • update_memory

Overwrite memory text or metadata after confirming the ID.

    05
  • delete_memory

    Delete one memory by memory_id.

    06
  • delete_all_memories

Delete all memories in the selected scope.

    07
  • delete_entities

Delete a user, agent, app, or run entity and its memories.

    08
  • list_entities

List stored users, agents, apps, or runs.

    09

Limitations and notes
  • Memories are stored in the user's Mem0 account, not locally.
  • Clients without browser sign-in need bearer API-key configuration.
  • Claude Desktop does not accept the mcp-add helper command and must be configured through its Settings UI.
  • Tool availability and access depend on the authenticated account.
