About Skill Seekers MCP

A community MCP server that can scrape documentation and repositories, manage source configurations, and package reusable agent skills.

What you can use it for

  • Scrape public documentation or repositories into structured agent skills
  • Generate or validate source configuration
  • Package and maintain reusable skill content
Connection and setup
Hosting
Self-hosted local process or user-managed HTTP process.
Transport
stdio or HTTP/SSE according to the project's agent-specific setup guide.
Endpoint
Local process; no hosted endpoint documented
Authentication
No MCP account is required. Optional API tokens can be needed for provider-specific scraping or model features; set only documented keys locally and only if the selected workflow requires them.

Requirements

  • Python 3.10 or newer.
  • Windows users require WSL for the documented shell setup; macOS and Linux are listed directly.
  • Internet access is needed when scraping remote documentation.

Setup steps

  1. Install the PyPI package with `pip install 'skill-seekers[mcp]'` or clone the official repository and install its documented MCP dependencies.
  2. For stdio, configure the client with `python` (or the full path to the selected Python interpreter) and args `-m skill_seekers.mcp.server_fastmcp`. The auto-configuration script exists but changes client configuration; review it before choosing that route.
  3. For documented HTTP mode, start `python -m skill_seekers.mcp.server_fastmcp --http --port 3000` and use the documented SSE endpoint `http://localhost:3000/sse` for compatible clients.
  4. Restart/reconnect the client and inspect MCP tools. The current setup guide documents 40 tools; exact tool availability can vary with installed version and optional capabilities.
Tools 5+

The official MCP setup guide reports 40 tools and documents categories. The saved names below are examples, not a claim that they form the complete current inventory; the installed server's tools/list must be checked for exact availability.

    05

This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • This is a community-maintained project, not an official feature of every supported AI client or documentation provider.
  • Remote scraping requires network access and should respect source-site access controls and rate limits.
  • Windows use in the setup guide requires WSL rather than native PowerShell setup.
  • Documentation and logo were reviewed; MCP initialization, tools/list, and a representative scrape were not tested.
