About Similarweb MCP

A hosted MCP integration exposing Similarweb digital intelligence data such as website traffic, engagement, audience, search and app metrics to compatible AI clients.

What you can use it for

  • Compare website traffic and engagement trends
  • Review audience demographics and website technologies
  • Inspect search SERP competitors and clicks
  • Analyze app install penetration, app-store rank and app details
Connection and setup
Hosting
Remote, vendor-hosted
Transport
Streamable HTTP (MCP endpoint documented; some client setup uses mcp-remote bridge)
Endpoint
https://mcp.similarweb.com
Authentication
Similarweb API key and eligible subscription (API-only, Business or Enterprise). Calls consume data credits.

Requirements

  • Similarweb subscription with API access (API-only, Business or Enterprise plans as documented)
  • Active Similarweb API key
  • MCP-compatible client

Setup steps

  1. Get the API key from Similarweb User Settings ? API Access. If no key is available, the current plan may not include API access; contact the account manager.
  2. Add https://mcp.similarweb.com as a hosted MCP connection and configure the api-key header in the client's protected local secret store. For Cursor, Similarweb documents npx -y mcp-remote@latest https://mcp.similarweb.com --header api-key:<API_KEY>.
  3. Reconnect the client and confirm the server is active. Use a harmless website traffic lookup to verify data access.
  4. Monitor API usage under User Settings ? API Access ? Usage; MCP consumes the same API credits as normal API requests.

  • Similarweb reports lower coverage for low-traffic or niche domains.
  • Available exact MCP tool names and input schemas were not shown in the overview page.
