About Sauce MCP

Sauce Labs? hosted MCP server lets compatible AI clients inspect account, jobs, builds and test artifacts; discover and control real devices; and, with separate entitlements, author and run tests through Sauce Labs.

What you can use it for

  • Inspect Sauce Labs account, team, region, jobs, builds, artifacts, tunnels
  • Start and interact with real devices, inspect UI, install apps, capture screenshots/network traffic
  • Generate, manage, run, and schedule tests through paid Test Authoring add-on
Connection and setup
Hosting
remote
Transport
Streamable HTTP
Endpoint
https://mcp.saucelabs.com
Authentication
HTTP Basic Auth with Sauce Labs username and access key. Tool availability additionally depends on organization role and product entitlements.

Requirements

  • Sauce Labs account, username, and access key
  • Know account data center; optional region header
  • Private Devices and Real Device Access API concurrency for device interaction tools
  • Sauce AI for Test Authoring paid add-on (Enterprise accounts) for test authoring tools

Setup steps

  1. Find username and access key in Sauce Labs dashboard.
  2. Add remote MCP URL https://mcp.saucelabs.com in a compatible client and configure HTTP Basic authentication with username/access key.
  3. Set X-Sauce-Region to US_WEST, US_EAST, or EU_CENTRAL if account is outside default region.
  4. For Claude Code, docs show `claude mcp add --transport http sauce-labs https://mcp.saucelabs.com` with Authorization Basic and X-Sauce-Region headers.
  5. Verify by asking for account information or active region; this read-only check does not require private-device entitlement.
Tools 116

116 tool names and descriptions are transcribed from Sauce Labs’ current first-party MCP Tools reference. This is the documented product-wide reference: actual tools returned in an account session vary by account role, product entitlements, and paid add-ons. No Sauce credentials were available for a personalized runtime tools/list query.

    111
  • error_reporting_list_groups

Returns crash groups for a project over a time window, ranked with error counts, first/last seen, and affected users. The entry point for "what's broken right now."

    112
  • error_reporting_list_instances

Returns individual error objects, one row each, with selected attribute columns. Use when raw events matter rather than the aggregate—for example, slicing by version, device, or user.

    113
  • error_reporting_get_group

Returns a single crash group in depth, beyond what the ranked list carries. Use after list_groups to investigate one group.

    114
  • error_reporting_get_instance

Returns one error object in full: the crashing thread's callstack, its attributes, and the attachments available on it. The main triage tool.

    115
  • error_reporting_get_attachment

Fetches one file attached to an error object—most usefully the SDK breadcrumbs. Call after get_instance surfaces the attachment list.

    116
Limitations and notes
  • Tool availability depends on organization role, account permissions, product subscriptions, and paid add-ons. Dedicated devices and Real Device Access API concurrency are required for many device tools; Test Authoring, AI Insights, and Error Reporting have separate entitlement requirements.
