About Noteit MCP

An independently maintained hosted MCP service for reading and managing AI agent profiles and project notes, plus generating HTML notes and flow diagrams.

What you can use it for

  • Retrieve reusable agent profiles and instructions.
  • Search project notes and tasks.
  • Create structured notes or flow diagrams from project context.
Connection and setup
Hosting
remote, hosted
Transport
Streamable HTTP
Endpoint
https://www.noteit-mcp.com/api/mcp
Authentication
OAuth 2.1 with device fingerprint for supporting IDEs; optional API token for other clients. The README says Cursor OAuth is automatic and Gemini CLI uses /mcp auth. Do not send account passwords in chat.

Requirements

  • Create/login to a Noteit account through OAuth.
  • Use an MCP client supporting remote HTTP; OAuth support varies by client.
  • For clients without the documented OAuth flow, obtain an API token after login and store it securely.

Setup steps

  1. Add the remote endpoint https://www.noteit-mcp.com/api/mcp to the selected MCP client.
  2. For Cursor, repository docs show the URL in ~/.cursor/mcp.json, then restart Cursor; OAuth is handled automatically per README.
  3. For Claude Code, use claude mcp add --transport http noteit-mcp https://www.noteit-mcp.com/api/mcp; project scope is also documented with -s project.
  4. For Gemini CLI, run gemini mcp add --transport http noteit-mcp https://www.noteit-mcp.com/api/mcp, then authenticate with /mcp auth noteit-mcp and inspect /mcp.
  5. For other IDEs, the repository directs users to log in at the Noteit website and obtain an API token. Keep the token in local secret storage, never in chat or committed config.
  6. Verify using a harmless read-only action such as listing profiles or notes. Creating/generating notes and profiles changes stored account data.
Tools

The current official Noteit MCP repository lists exactly eight tools. This is Noteit-MCP (personal agent profiles and developer notes), not Notit (the separate study-material service).

List user agent profiles and their composable instructions.

    01
  • noteit_profiles_getConfig

Retrieve a composable agent configuration profile.

    02
  • noteit_profiles_generate

Generate and save profile components such as personas, rules, documents or instructions.

    03

Create project notes, tasks, explanations or issue records.

    04
  • noteit_notes_read

Read a note by its unique ID.

    05

    Create interactive HTML notes.

    07
  • noteit_flow_create

    Create visual flow diagrams.

    08
Limitations and notes
  • Account OAuth required to use the hosted service.
  • API token path is for other clients; exact token scopes/expiry are not listed in the README.
  • Creating notes, profiles, HTML pages and diagrams writes to the account.
  • No schemas for tool input/output are published in the README.
  • No runtime connection test performed.
Source discrepancies
  • Repository describes OAuth 2.1 with device fingerprint for supported IDEs and optional API tokens for others, but does not give token scope/expiry details.
  • README promotes 60+ expert personas; this describes agent-profile templates, not 60+ MCP tools.
Original sources
  • official repository tool reference

Current publisher repository enumerates eight exact tools and documents endpoint https://www.noteit-mcp.com/api/mcp with OAuth 2.1 and optional API-token authentication.

  • official product page

Publisher product page describes reusable AI profiles, notes and visualization workflows.
