About New Relic AI MCP

Official hosted MCP service for querying and acting on New Relic observability data through client-authenticated AI integrations.

What you can use it for

  • Discover entities and observability context
  • Query account data and alerts using documentation-defined tool groups
Connection and setup
Hosting
remote
Transport
Streamable HTTP
Endpoint
https://mcp.newrelic.com/mcp/; EU https://mcp.eu.newrelic.com/mcp/; JP https://mcp.jp.newrelic.com/mcp/
Authentication
OAuth is the supported method for documented clients. API-key method is explicitly client-specific; Antigravity CLI is an exception in current docs.

Requirements

  • New Relic account and OAuth sign-in
  • Client versions meeting provider's documented OAuth minimums

Setup steps

  1. Add remote URL matching account region; US default https://mcp.newrelic.com/mcp/.
  2. Codex: `codex mcp add newrelic --url https://mcp.newrelic.com/mcp/`.
  3. Complete browser OAuth when prompted.
  4. Use least-privilege New Relic account/RBAC.
Tools 39

Publisher reference documents 39 tools including preview and GitHub gap analysis. Runtime inventory can be filtered with include-tags and varies with OAuth/API-key auth and account permissions. Several analysis tools are OAuth-only; preview tools are marked separately.
