About JsonCut MCP

Connects an AI client to JsonCut Studio for editable image and video projects, media, templates, visual review, and rendering. The current V2 endpoint is vendor-hosted and distinct from the deprecated local npm server.

What you can use it for

  • Create and edit layered images or videos while preserving editable project source.
  • Import and manage project media and templates.
  • Review visual scenes/frames and render final exports.
  • Build bounded content batches and track related asset conflicts.
Connection and setup
Hosting
remote, hosted
Transport
Streamable HTTP
Endpoint
https://mcp.jsoncut.com/mcp
Authentication
OAuth sign-in with JsonCut account is recommended. Alternative: JsonCut API key in X-API-Key header with minimum required scopes. The old V1 endpoint is separate and API-key-only.

Requirements

  • JsonCut account; OAuth approval or scoped API key.
  • Existing plan, usage limits and credits apply; documentation does not establish a single universal plan requirement.
  • Remote MCP client; some clients require an additional authenticate/connect action.
  • Access to local files is not automatically granted by OAuth and depends on client file/network transfer capabilities.

Setup steps

  1. Add the remote Streamable HTTP MCP endpoint https://mcp.jsoncut.com/mcp in a compatible client.
  2. Choose OAuth when supported; sign into JsonCut Studio, review the app identity/return address/permissions, and approve. No API key needs to be pasted for OAuth.
  3. For clients without OAuth or unattended use, create a scoped JsonCut API key and store it in local secret storage; configure it as X-API-Key, not as an OAuth client secret.
  4. Return to the client and complete any separate Connect/Authenticate action. Verify by listing tools and calling jsoncut_v2_get_authoring_guide.
  5. Use tools with the current JsonCut account, plan, limits, and credits. For local files, choose a transfer route supported by the client; OAuth alone does not grant local file access.
  6. Do not connect both V1 and V2 endpoints in the same agent.
Tools 62

Current JsonCut V2 docs enumerate these 62 stable jsoncut_* identifiers; the previous local V1 repository is explicitly outdated/deprecated. Access and actual schemas can vary by account/permissions; live jsoncut://v2/registry is authoritative for a deployed account.

Limitations and notes
  • The V2 server does not expose Studio sessions, billing, internal operations, or legacy V1 API JSON jobs.
  • Existing plan, usage limits, and credits apply; feature access is account-dependent.
  • OAuth does not grant local file access. File transfers depend on the client host's capabilities and permitted network path.
  • Some rendering and content-editing operations create or modify work; project deletion moves it to recoverable Studio trash.
  • The old GitHub local npm package is explicitly deprecated; do not use its local install examples as current V2 setup.
  • No runtime connection test performed.
Source discrepancies
  • The older GitHub README describes a local npm package, API-key authentication and V1-era schema resources. Repository banner says this package is no longer maintained and points to the hosted V2 endpoint. Current endpoint and auth instructions come from live vendor documentation; do not merge the retired local package details into the current setup.
