About Intercom MCP

Intercom-hosted remote MCP server for searching and retrieving conversations, contacts, companies, and Help Center articles, with article creation and updates.

What you can use it for

  • Find conversations and customer contacts.
  • Retrieve company, contact, conversation and help article records.
  • Search and manage Help Center article content.
Connection and setup
Hosting
Remote, hosted
Transport
Streamable HTTP (recommended); legacy SSE (deprecated)
Endpoint
https://mcp.intercom.com/mcp
Authentication
OAuth browser flow recommended; Bearer API token is an alternative. Access is limited to the signed-in teammate's Intercom permissions. Workspace must be US-hosted.

Requirements

  • Intercom workspace hosted in the US; other regions are not currently supported.
  • OAuth or API token with required read scopes for users/companies and conversations, and read/write articles scopes for Help Center article operations.
  • MCP client supporting remote HTTP; npx mcp-remote can bridge clients with local stdio-only config.

Setup steps

  1. Add https://mcp.intercom.com/mcp as a remote server in a compatible client.
  2. Complete the browser OAuth consent flow. For bearer authentication, create an Intercom API token with only required scopes and store it locally as a secret header.
  3. Search using the `search` query DSL or specific search tools, then pass returned IDs to `fetch` or resource-specific get tools.
  4. For article changes, inspect the intended article and draft content first; user approval should precede create/update actions.
  5. Use cursor pagination (`starting_after`) or page pagination as documented; reconnect or restart if cached tool definitions are stale.
