About Cloudinary Asset Management MCP

Cloudinary Asset Management MCP provides remote or local media upload, search, organization, transformations, analysis and image generation workflows.

What you can use it for

  • Upload, search, organize, rename and delete assets; manage tags and folders.
  • Create transformations, derived assets and generated images.
Connection and setup
Hosting
hosted
Transport
Streamable HTTP
Endpoint
https://asset-management.mcp.cloudinary.com/mcp
Authentication
OAuth by default for remote server; API credentials supported for most servers.

Requirements

  • Cloudinary account and product environment for asset operations.
  • For remote use, MCP client with remote HTTP and OAuth support.
  • For local use, Node.js 18+ and npm.
  • API-key auth is not required for remote OAuth; if using local auth, store CLOUDINARY_URL or CLOUDINARY_CLOUD_NAME, CLOUDINARY_API_KEY, and CLOUDINARY_API_SECRET securely.

Setup steps

  1. Add the remote Asset Management endpoint https://asset-management.mcp.cloudinary.com/mcp to the client as a Streamable HTTP MCP server.
  2. Start the client's OAuth login flow, sign into Cloudinary, and choose the product environment.
  3. The official Codex/ChatGPT plugin currently installs the Asset Management server; the other Cloudinary servers are separate integrations.
  4. Verify by listing or searching an existing asset in the selected environment. Avoid upload/delete calls during a harmless connection check.
Tools 6+

Crawl4AI checked four Cloudinary docs/repository pages. Recorded the three dynamic-discovery meta-tools documented for dynamic mode and three named selectable metadata actions from the official configuration example. Asset tool visibility depends on configuration; this is a partial documented subset, not a full fixed inventory.

  • create-metadata-field

Documented selectable Cloudinary action for creating a metadata field.

    01
  • describe_tool_input

Dynamic mode: retrieve the input schema for selected tools.

    02
  • execute_tool

Dynamic mode: execute a selected Cloudinary tool by name and arguments.

    03
  • get-metadata-field

Documented selectable Cloudinary action for retrieving a metadata field.

    04
  • list_tools

Dynamic mode: list currently available Cloudinary tools and descriptions.

    05
  • list-metadata-fields

Documented selectable Cloudinary action for listing metadata fields.

This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • Image Generation add-on required for generated media. Remote servers use /mcp; older /sse routes are deprecated except Analysis.
Original sources
  • official repository documentation

Documents official remote endpoint https://asset-management.mcp.cloudinary.com/mcp, local package configuration, auth variables, and server capability groups.

  • official publisher avatar

Verified Cloudinary GitHub organization avatar downloaded, decoded, and visually reviewed; used fallback tier D.

  • official documentation

Official Cloudinary docs list Asset Management MCP endpoint family and capabilities for upload, search, asset management, transformations and image generation; server tools evolve and the overview does not enumerate identifiers.
