About Tigris MCP

Tigris MCP connects AI clients to Tigris object storage for bucket and object management, snapshots, forks, uploads, and downloads.

What you can use it for

  • List and manage Tigris buckets and objects
  • Take and list bucket snapshots or create bucket forks
  • Upload and download objects
  • Generate shareable object links
Connection and setup
Hosting

Transport
Not documented
Endpoint
https://mcp.storage.dev/mcp
Authentication
The current hosted MCP service uses OAuth, completed in the client browser on first connection. The older local package path uses AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID and AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY, plus AWS_ENDPOINT_URL_S3; it also documents using an existing AWS profile.

Requirements

  • For hosted mode: MCP client supporting remote Streamable HTTP and OAuth, plus a Tigris account to authenticate
  • For local npm mode: Node.js and Tigris access credentials
  • For local Docker mode: Docker Engine
  • An account and appropriate bucket permissions for data operations

Setup steps

  1. Preferred current hosted setup: add https://mcp.storage.dev/mcp as a remote HTTP MCP server. Claude Code command: claude mcp add --transport http tigris https://mcp.storage.dev/mcp --scope user. Complete OAuth in the browser when prompted.
  2. For ChatGPT, add a custom MCP connector with that URL and select OAuth.
  3. For local package mode, use npx @tigrisdata/tigris-mcp-server init or configure the documented local command with credentials; repository README's explicit npm configuration uses npx -y @tigrisdata/tigris-mcp-server run.
  4. For local Docker, use the documented quay.io/tigrisdata/tigris-mcp-server image and preserve its workspace mount boundary.
  5. Verify with a read-only bucket or object listing before allowing mutations.
Tools 10+

Current official overview describes bucket snapshots and forks in addition to bucket/object management, but does not enumerate the hosted server’s full tool names. Keep the ten named rows as a partial sample; verify exact exposed names with live tools/list. Hosted endpoint uses OAuth.

This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • Hosted OAuth and local credential-based npm/Docker modes are distinct setup paths and should not be mixed.
  • Exact hosted tool names and count are not published on the accessible primary setup page.
  • Local repository page states a hosted server exists; its local package release v1.14.0 was published Nov 17, 2025, so local package details may not reflect the current hosted tool catalog.
  • Storage operations include creation, update, upload, and delete capabilities; use least-privilege account access.
  • No runtime connection test performed.
