Requirements

  • Optional Redpanda Cloud account for OAuth and higher allowance

Setup steps

  1. Add remote Streamable HTTP endpoint https://docs.redpanda.com/mcp in a supported client.
  2. Claude Code: claude mcp add --scope user --transport http redpanda https://docs.redpanda.com/mcp; authenticate via /mcp if desired.
  3. Cursor or VS Code: add endpoint as an HTTP MCP server in client settings/config; official docs specify VS Code 1.102+ with GitHub Copilot.
  4. Claude Desktop: use a custom connector where supported, or official mcp-remote bridge config on supported OS; Linux Desktop config-file bridge is documented as unsupported.
  5. ChatGPT Desktop: enable Developer mode, add an MCP server with the endpoint; OAuth can be used for higher allowance.
  6. To increase access, reconnect and complete Redpanda Cloud OAuth. Verify with a read-only documentation question.

  • The endpoint is also rate limited to 60 requests per 15 minutes.
