About Fivetran Agent Context MCP

Fivetran Agent Context MCP provides a governed query interface to an organization’s built Context Layer.

What you can use it for

  • Query the governed Context Layer across selected warehouse data and connected documentation, systems of record and analytics sources.

Endpoint

Authentication
OAuth for individual users or organization system key as a Bearer token.

Requirements

  • A Fivetran account with admin access.
  • A Fivetran Context Layer must already be built.
  • The organization must grant the user access under Context > MCP Access; a system key is an alternative for automated clients.

Setup steps

  1. In the Fivetran dashboard open Context > MCP Access and choose the warehouse query role; use a dedicated read-only role where possible.
  2. Under MCP Access > Users, grant access to each intended user, or create a system key for an automated client.
  3. In Codex CLI run `codex mcp add AgentContext --url "https://api.fivetran.ai/mcp"` and complete the browser authorization flow.
  4. For system-key access, keep the key in `FIVETRAN_AI_API_KEY` and use Codex’s `--bearer-token-env-var FIVETRAN_AI_API_KEY` option.
  5. Run `codex mcp list` or `/mcp`, inspect the available tools, then make a read-only query against the context layer.
Tools 2+

Fivetran’s current official Agent Context MCP overview publishes two exact tools: execute_sql (read-only) and provide_feedback (write). Access requires a configured Context Layer and admin-granted access; publisher says interface may evolve.

  • execute_sql

Execute a read-only SQL query against the connected destination warehouse; discovers context through the AGENTS schema.

    01
  • provide_feedback

Submit feedback about an answer, such as reporting an incorrect or unsatisfactory response.

    02

This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • Public preview. Requires a built Context Layer and access granted in Fivetran Context > MCP Access.
