About Cal.com MCP

Cal.com’s official MCP server lets an AI client look up, create, reschedule, and cancel bookings and manage event types; an optional flag exposes additional API tools.

What you can use it for

  • Look up bookings and event types
  • Create, reschedule, or cancel bookings
  • Manage documented Cal.com event types when using the expanded tool set
Connection and setup
Hosting
Local process
Transport
stdio
Endpoint
Local process; no hosted endpoint documented
Authentication
Cal.com API key provided to the local process using CAL_API_KEY.

Requirements

  • Node.js 18 or later
  • MCP-compatible client
  • Cal.com API key from account settings

Setup steps

  1. Create or copy an API key from Cal.com account settings; store it in the client’s protected local environment as CAL_API_KEY.
  2. Configure the local server command npx with package @calcom/cal-mcp@latest and pass CAL_API_KEY in its environment.
  3. The default documented tools cover bookings and event types. Add --all-tools only if the wider documented endpoint set is needed.
  4. Restart/reload the MCP client, inspect tools, and use a read-only booking lookup to check the connection before making booking changes.

The old nine tools are only a subset, not the current complete hosted surface. Current documentation describes selectable toolsets for profile, event types, bookings, availability, schedules, calendars, teams, organizations, routing forms and catalog; list varies by selected toolsets and permissions. This server’s available tools can vary by account, permissions, or configuration. The list shown is not its full runtime catalog.

Limitations and notes
  • The expanded --all-tools mode covers additional Cal.com API endpoints and may expose actions beyond the defaults.
  • Booking creation, rescheduling, cancellation, and event-type updates/deletion modify account data; inspect arguments and confirm before write actions.
  • API key credentials are required; OAuth is not documented for this server.

Current Cal.com MCP implementation documents selectable toolsets and API catalog meta-tools; actual inventory depends on configuration and authorization.
