About Axiom MCP

Axiom MCP lets AI agents query observability datasets using APL, explore metrics, and manage dashboards, monitors and notifiers through a hosted remote server or a local binary.

Remote OAuth in browser (recommended), or Personal Access Token plus organization ID headers. Local server uses an API token.

Requirements

  • Axiom account and dataset containing data
  • Remote query results route through Axiom US infrastructure
  • Local installation requires Go toolchain or an installed binary

Setup steps

  1. Create an Axiom account and dataset.
  2. For remote, add https://mcp.axiom.co/mcp as an HTTP server and complete browser OAuth.
  3. For local, install github.com/axiomhq/axiom-mcp and configure token, API URL and optional per-tool rate/burst limits.
  4. Use queryDataset or listDatasets for read-only verification; explicitly confirm dashboard, dataset, monitor, notifier, and feedback writes.
  5. Set organization query cost limits/roles before allowing autonomous queries.
Tools 31

Limitations and notes
  • Remote MCP is hosted in the US and query results are routed through US infrastructure.
  • Local mode does not provide hosted server prompts.
  • Some service-map tools require service map enabled for the organization.
  • Queries and agent use can incur costs; Axiom documents query cost limits.
  • Write tools create/update/delete datasets, dashboards, monitors and notifiers.
