About Auth0 MCP

Local Auth0 MCP for application and API resource-server administration, Actions, logs, Forms, project onboarding, and framework quickstarts.

What you can use it for

  • Manage Auth0 applications, resource servers, actions, logs and forms; onboard projects and fetch framework guides.
Connection and setup
Hosting
Local MCP server
Transport
stdio
Endpoint
Local process; no hosted endpoint documented
Authentication
OAuth 2.0 device authorization; credentials stored in the system keychain. The README documents tool filtering and read-only mode.

Requirements

  • Node.js 18 or higher
  • Auth0 account with administrative permissions appropriate to selected operations
  • MCP client
  • Private Cloud tenants require a machine-to-machine application with explicitly selected Management API scopes

Setup steps

  1. Run npx @auth0/auth0-mcp-server init --client <client> using a client value documented in the repository (for example claude-code, cursor, windsurf, vscode, or gemini).
  2. Choose user or project configuration scope if prompted and select only the required scopes/tools; the official server defaults to no OAuth scopes during interactive selection.
  3. Complete the browser device authorization login and choose the Auth0 tenant. Credentials are stored in the system keychain.
  4. For a generic client, initialize authentication, then configure command npx with args [-y, @auth0/auth0-mcp-server, run].
  5. Restart/reload the MCP client and verify that Auth0 tools appear. Start with a read-only request.
Tools 24

Auth0 maintainer README enumerates 24 tools. Runtime can filter using AUTH0_MCP_TOOLS or read-only mode; credentials and tenant permissions govern their effect.

Limitations and notes
  • Available tool set is configurable; README explicitly recommends read-only and allowlist filters when appropriate.
Source discrepancies
  • Official docs state beta and not for critical/production workloads, so directory listing as Auth0 does not imply production readiness.
Original sources
  • official tool reference

Auth0 maintainer README enumerates the stored 24 tenant administration tools. AUTH0_MCP_TOOLS and read-only settings can filter runtime exposure; default includes all configured tools.
